Hotline and Safety Planning

You’re Not Alone. We’re Here 24/7

You do not have to go through abuse by yourself. Brighter Tomorrows has a hotline that is answered every day, all day. When you call, a person picks up. Not a recording. Not a phone tree. Someone who knows about domestic violence and will take you seriously.

You do not have to have the perfect words. You can just say “I need to talk to someone.” We will listen. Everything you tell us is kept confidential.

Making a Safety Plan

Leaving an abusive person can be the most unsafe time. That is why planning matters.

On the phone, we can help you make a simple plan, like:

  • What to take if you leave.
  • Where you could go.
  • Who you can tell.
  • What to do if the person shows up at work or school.

Sometimes the plan is as small as “keep your ID and the kids’ medicine where you can grab it fast.” Small things help. Your plan will look different from someone else’s. That is normal.

What Happens When You Call

People call us for different reasons.

  • Immediate danger
  • Thinking about leaving
  • After leaving, when life still feels uncertain.

We listen first. Then we tell you what services we have. That might be emergency shelter, legal advocacy, or counseling. If you need a safe place, we will talk about that. If you are not ready to leave, we will still help you think about safety.

You are the one who decides what you want to do. Our job is to give you clear options.

If You Do Not Speak English

We can still help you. We use a language line so you can speak in the language you are most comfortable with. Tell us what you speak and we will bring in an interpreter while you are on the call.

possiamo comunque aiutarla. Utilizziamo un servizio di interpretariato telefonico per permetterle di parlare nella lingua con cui si sente più a suo agio. Ci dica quale lingua parla e faremo intervenire un interprete durante la chiamata.

Если вы не говорите по-английски,
мы всё равно можем вам помочь. Мы используем телефонную службу перевода, чтобы вы могли говорить на языке, который вам наиболее удобен. Сообщите нам, на каком языке вы говорите, и мы подключим переводчика во время звонка.
